Laura
May 24, 2015 — .It was with shock and sadness that we learned of the death of our friend Laura on 25 May 2015. Laura had battled with poor health for a number of years, a battle she faced with tremendous courage. She constantly seemed to be able to bounce back and we somehow thought that she would continue to do so.
Laura set a standard of excellence in her professional life here in St. Kevin’s Community College as a teacher. She worked tirelessly for and with her students, always ensuring that they reached their full potential. She took time for her students outside of the class also being a dedicated and caring Tutor to many groups of students over the years.
Despite her illness, Laura continued live life to the fullest. She continued to work for as long as she could and maintained a full social diary right up to the end. She continued to travel which was one of her great passions in life and made an eagerly anticipated trip to Bath just 6 weeks before her death. She also continued to meet the many many friends that she had made over the years. Laura will be remembered above all for this indomitable joie de vivre.
Each day, we meet many people, and we have an opportunity to make an impression on most of them. I always think that our loved ones never really leave us, but live on in our memories and in the ways they shape our lives. Laura provides for us a beautiful example of a colleague and friend whose wisdom, intelligence, and grace touched all of us who surrounded her.
